Die Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) sind 17 gesellschaftliche Ziele unserer Zeit, die 2015 von der UNO beschlossen wurden. Die Ziele sind vielschichtig und müssen gemeinsam verfolgt werden, um die ökonomischen, sozialen und ökologischen Dimensionen nachhaltiger Entwicklung auszubalancieren.

The United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals are an urgent call to action to society’s most pressing challenges. With its Sustainable Development Goals Report Montanuniversität Leoben wants to show its contribution and growth towards sustainability.
The development towards sustainability is a shared concern of all. Thus, the university acknowledges its responsible role in setting high standards and continuously aiming to work hard for a just and sustainable future for all.

Sustainable Development Goals

at Montanuniversität Leoben

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are 17 goals of our time adopted by the UN in 2015. The goals are multi-faceted and must be pursued together in order to balance the economic, social and ecological dimensions of sustainable development.

Montanuniversität Leoben is working on a variety of projects to achieve the SDGs. Raw materials and their processing and the related energy consumption contribute a considerable part to development, economy and modern society. Therefore, the raw material life cycle expertise of Montanuniversität Leoben is important in in relation to sustainable development, as the present survey shows.
The survey of SDG relevant projects took place for the third time at Montanuniversität Leoben in 2023. A total of 494 projects with sustainability relevance were submitted. (In 2020 there were 244 projects, 2021 there were 355 projects).

Since it is often the case that several SDGs can be assigned to a single project, the visualization is based on SDG impact points. In this sense, a project can have multiple impact points. In total, the survey came up with 1284 SDG impact points.
